The Association of Ringing Teachers
ART provides training and support to teachers and new ringers. Its core products are its three modules for ringing teachers and Learning the Ropes its learning scheme for new ringers.
The scheme is based on best practice taken from the world of ringing, other hobbies and education; supplemented with university research findings into how best to coach practical skills. It was developed through the confluence of a number of peoples’ and organisations’ ideas. National ringing institutions recognised that the aging population of Tower Captains meant that things had to be done differently. As often happens at such times, along came individuals who had the knowledge, skills and time to be able to develop a new way.
The Association of Ringing Teachers and its schemes are endorsed by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers.
Providing each teacher with the right tools to meet the unique needs of each ringer they teach. New teachers will gain the confidence, techniques and support required to confidently teach, whilst experienced teachers will benefit from the resources and ideas which meet peoples’ expectations of a hobby today.
Offering each ringer a tailored learning experience which supports their aspirations and matches their ability. Equpping them with the skills and knowledge to enjoy a lifetime of ringing.
